The 1991 Arctic Masterpiece by E. Markussen

A Legacy in Every Brushstroke

The Full Story
This painting tells the story of a man who has spent his entire life surrounded by the nature of Northern Norway.
E. Markussen is 81 years old and has painted for as long as he can remember. He still lives in the same house in Dalsnes, Kvæfjord, where he and his wife raised their children — the very home from which he painted this view in 1991.
Born by the fjord, with the same mountains and sea outside his window, he has always painted what he loves most: mountains, fjords, cabins, and quiet places in nature.
He never sold his art before. Every painting he has created has stayed in the family, made purely out of joy and love for the landscape that shaped him.
This is the first time one of his paintings is being shared with the world.
His granddaughter convinced him to let people finally see his work — because his art deserves to be known.
The frame you see is the original one he had custom-made for this painting in the early 1990s.
Each brushstroke carries decades of passion, patience, and deep connection to nature.
Through his work, generations in his family have inherited the same steady hands and artistic talent — a legacy that continues today.
If the right collector connects with this piece, he is open to letting it go, and may even paint new commissions for those who share his love for the Arctic landscape.
